Event Marketing Leading Questions

We have discussed event marketing quite a bit on The B2b Lead. With tightening budgets I was curious what other marketers are doing to draw attention and make the most out of those leads gathered. I interviewed a variety of marketers at MarketingProfs B2B Forum in June. Check out this video to see what marketers from Marketo, HubSpot, Manticore, Enspire Learning and IDC have to say. See how they answered the following questions:

  1. What is the craziest thing you have seen at a trade show?
  2. What is your lead management process for leads gathered at trade shows?

A couple years ago our budget for swag giveaways was pretty tight, but we were going to a huge convention (the NAB show in Vegas–around 100k people). We knew we couldn’t afford enough swag to give to everyone (or even 1/4 of everyone!) so we decided to go with something that we could give to a few ppl, and that would stand out in the crowd…

    Flaming Cowboy Hats!

We found a vendor that was selling these cowboy hats with a full flame pattern on them, for relatively cheap (a few bucks per dozen). We got patches with our logo, and stuck them on the front of each hat, and we only brought about 500 hats with us to the show.

Those 500 hats were everywhere! We had walking billboards everywhere, in our booth, in our competitors booths, out on the street, and even inside casinos after hours! It was definitely great “bang for the buck.” And I still have clients ask for more flaming cowboy hats.
