In Google, changing the title of a page can either make the page rank or make the page go away. Obviously there are other factors that come into play to get you to page one on Google. However, once you have made it there, it is frequently the title of the page that Google will use to favor you with a higher ranking. The goal is to get to the top of page one. Frequently there is little or no traffic at the bottom of the page.
